Tabs:  Customer, Merchandise

Use this routine to create or edit a "shopping cart" (this is, a document listing merchandise the customer is interested in purchasing) that you can later convert to a sales order. The shopping cart, which includes merchandise prices and estimated charges, can be viewed on the screen and/or printed. You do not have to specify a customer for each cart. However, if you want to specify a customer, the Customer Telephone Number Lookup is available at the Phone field. The cursor moves directly to the Phone field after the Cart ID field if the Search Phone Number First field is active (checked) in the Point of Sale Control Settings. You can also identify a customer using the Customer field.

If you access the "read-only" version of this routine (identified on the title bar next to the screen name), you can view but not edit the fields in the routine.

In order to convert a shopping cart to a sales order you must have security access via the Enter/Edit a Sales Order setting in Sales Security or obtain a security override from an authorized user.

You can save shopping carts and later recall and convert them into sales orders. Just enter the cart number into the Order Number field in Sales Order Entry. If you answer "Yes" to convert the cart to an order, the cart information converts to sales order information. Note that if a cart contains multiple hard kits, Sales Order Entry creates a line item for each kit when you convert the cart to a sales order.

The system deletes shopping carts after conversion. The system also deletes carts that are older than the number of days specified at the Shopping Cart Retention Days field on the Manual tab of the Shopping Cart Control Settings (Shopping Cart ACF).

Shopping Cart ID

The following estimated totals for the line items in the shopping cart appear in the header portion of the screen. You cannot edit these fields.

Customer Code

If a check appears at the CUSTOMER SEARCH -  Phone Number First field in the Point of Sale Control Settings, the cursor moves directly to the Home phone field after you specify a Cart ID, where the Customer Telephone Number Lookup feature is available.

If creating a new customer on-the-fly via this process, the program automatically assigns a customer code.

To skip the calculation of the ATP date, do NOT check any of the following ATP Calculation settings in your Point of Sale Control Settings: Include New Purchase Orders, Include Stock Transfers, Include Unlinked Purchase Orders. If you are not set up to calculate the ATP date via these settings, the following information is not shown on this screen.

-The Available to Promise Date and Available to Customer Date fields (above) - neither the labels nor data are displayed.
-The ATP Date in the grid - this column is not included in the grid.
-The option called Toggle Display of ATP/ATC Dates is not listed on the Actions menu.

If you click on Save at any place in the routine, and you have filled all the required fields, the Print Options window appears.
