Navigational Tools in (9.7) STORIS

Tools/Buttons: Tools, Keyboard Shortcuts, Buttons at Fields, Buttons on the Command Bar

Within STORIS, the following tools and buttons provide access to additional functions or provide navigational options.

The descriptions below assume the buttons are active. Buttons have no functionality while inactive.

Tools at Top of Screen

STORIS Toolbar: This toolbar appears at the upper-left of all STORIS screens. If you click on an item in the toolbar, a menu appears with familiar Windows® options to manipulate the window, as well as options to print the current screen or window.

File, Exit: To end your STORIS session, you should always use the Exit option from the File menu. It is not recommended that you use the Windows "red X" button in the corner of the screen.

Minimize: (standard Windows® button) This button appears on all STORIS screens and is used throughout Windows® applications. If you click the button, the application remains open but the screen is minimized and an icon is placed on your Windows® Taskbar.

Maximize: (standard Windows® button) This button appears on all STORIS screens and is used throughout Windows® applications. If you click the button, the screen size is maximized (enlarged).

Restore Down: (standard Windows® button) This button appears on all STORIS screens and is used throughout Windows® applications. If you click the button, the application remains open on your desktop, but the screen size is reduced.

Close: (standard Windows® button) This button appears on all STORIS screens and is used throughout Windows® applications. You should NOT use this button from within a STORIS routine to exit out of the screen. You should always use the buttons at the bottom of the screen, such as Save, Exit, etc. (See Buttons at Bottom of Screen.) In addition, when at the Main Menu Screen, it is recommended that you use File > Exit (see above) to close your STORIS session, rather than this button.

Buttons at Fields & Grids

Within routines in STORIS, some fields contain one or more buttons next to the field label that provide additional options for that specific field. The following are descriptions of buttons you see in STORIS routines at some fields.

Plus Button: If you are set up to use automatic transaction numbering via your control settings, you click this button at the order number field in STORIS to create a new order with an automatically assigned transaction number.

Search Button: When you click this button at a STORIS field, you access one or more options that assist you in locating a valid entry, such as a customer code, document number, etc. For example, if you click this button at a route field, a list of route codes displays. In most cases, you can also use the search option to select an item and populate the field.

Action Button: When you click this button at a STORIS field, you access extra action options that can be performed when entering data in this field. For example, you might access an additional window in which multiple locations can be selected, or the customer settings window appears where you can create a new customer. This button is distinct from the Actions button mentioned below, which appears at the top of the screen.

Arrow: When you click this button at a STORIS field, a drop-down list of selections for that field appears. For example, if you click the button at a store field, a list of valid store locations available to you displays. You can use your mouse or keyboard to select an item from the list and populate the field.

Calendar Icon: When you click this button at a date field in STORIS, a calendar displays from which you can select a date. For example, if entering a delivery date, a calendar showing available delivery dates appears. Different types of calendars display, depending on the field requirements.  See also Calendar Icon.

Camera Icon: When you click this button at a product field, you can view the image that was attached to the product using Update Product Images.

Add Button: Click this button to add an item to the grid.

Clear Button: Click this button to clear items from the grid.

Remove Button: Click this button to remove an item from the grid.

Promote/Demote Buttons: Use these buttons to reorder grid items by moving them up/down in the grid.

Save + Add Another Button: When you click this button after entering product information on an order, the product is added to the current order and the merchandise entry area remains open for entry of another product.

Save Button: When you click this button after entering product information on an order, the product is added to the order and the merchandise entry area is hidden.

Cancel Button: When you click this button after entering a product in the merchandise entry area, the product is removed from the entry area.

Buttons on the Command Bar

Each STORIS routine has a set of navigational buttons on the Command Bar at the top of the screen. Use these buttons to move between routines and menus and to tell STORIS whether or not to keep the edits (if any) you made to a routine. The Command Bar also includes a button that accesses the Help topic for the current routine, a button that accesses STORIS Messenger, and a button that provides access to additional options. Note that a few screens in STORIS may not include all the buttons listed below, and some buttons are inactive (that is, dimmed) in certain routines.

Messenger Mail: Accesses the Send/Review Mail Messages routine in STORIS Messenger where you can view all unread mail and tasks for the log-on user.

Help: Accesses STORIS' context-sensitive On-Line Help. When you click on Help, a separate browser window opens, displaying a Help topic for the current routine.

Save: Saves the changes you make to the current STORIS routine.

Clear: Clears entries you make during the current session and resumes editing or viewing without exiting the screen (except for screens with an Active Locations List).

Delete: Deletes the current order or record. After you click on this button, a prompt appears with the option to proceed or abandon the Delete procedure. This icon also appears on the Quick Launch bar and is used to remove an icon from Quick Launch.

Actions: Accesses a menu of additional options related to the current routine.  This button is distinct from the Action button described above, which is available at specific entry fields.

Exit: Closes the current STORIS screen. If you made any edits, a message appears and you must decide whether to save or abandon your edits. Use this option after viewing (but not editing) a screen or to discard changes made.
