Search for a Product

Use this screen to search for products. Select the desired search criteria from the sidebar on the left then click the blue Search button. The results populate in the grid where they can be selected. The search results are read-only. After selecting your product(s), click Save to transfer the selected product(s) information to the process in which you are working (e.g., Enter a Sales Order, Advanced Product Settings, etc.). The Search for a Product window closes automatically.

The search filters on the left are divided into the following categories: General Information, More, Availability, Price Range, Included Products, and Purchasing. Note that these categories are expandable and are expanded by default. Although you can collapse the expanders, their state is not preserved and are always expanded upon accessing this screen. The associated scroll bar allows you to access all the search options and appears when the number of search options do not fit into the sidebar.

The Search for a Product screen is a responsive design meaning that its contents automatically re-size if you re-size the window.

To exclude obsolete products from the Advanced Product Search, check the PRODUCT SEARCH - Exclude Obsolete Merchandise check box in the Additional Settings tab of Inventory Control Settings. Note that the sales-related version of the search excludes products flagged for purging regardless of the setting at this field.

You can suppress products in the various lookup windows for specific users or user groups by entering their IDs in the Suppress from Product Search for fields in the Purchase Status Settings.

General Information

Enter all or part of a product code. The system returns all products whose product code contains the segment you enter, regardless of capitalization. Results are displayed with exact matches first, followed by others in standard sorted order.

Enter the code to restrict the search by brand. Click the Search button to select brand from list.

Enter all or part of a vendor model number. The system returns all products whose vendor model number contains the segment you enter.

Access to this field may be restricted by the Search for vendors, view vendor name and model numbers field in the Extended Security settings.

Enter the code of the vendor whose products you want to restrict the search to. If you click on the Search button, the Vendor Name Search routine appears.

Leave this field blank to search for products with any purchase status, depending on your settings in Purchase Status Settings. Click the Action button to access the Multiple Selection Lookup Window, where you can select one or more purchase statuses. If multiple purchase statuses are selected, the Purchase Status field displays an ellipsis ("...").

Use this field to search for products by as-is reason code. This selection works in conjunction with other filters that can be entered. Click the Action button at this field to access the Multiple Selection Lookup Window, where you can select one or more reason codes. Only Reason Codes that are designated for As Is Usage are displayed in the multi-select screen. If any Reason Codes are entered, the selection of products includes only those items that have pieces containing the entered Reason Codes.

Availability

Restrict the product search to location by entering the location code directly into the field or by clicking on the Arrow to select from a list of locations. If you leave the field blank, all locations are included in your search.

The system restricts you from selecting locations to which you have no security access.

If you restrict your search to a location, the program lists only products for which activity has occurred at the selected location.

Check this box to limit results to products that have a status of available. Uncheck the box to search all products.

Price Range

To activate the price range fields, you must specify at least one other search parameter first.

Included Products

At least one of the following boxes must be checked in order to perform a product search. All are checked by default, except in scenarios where the search process is limited to specific search criteria:

If checked, all kit masters are included in the search.

If checked, all special ordered products are included in the search.

If checked, all service products are included in the search.

If checked, products that do not fit in the above classifications are included in the search.

Purchasing

The grid contains the following columns with information about each product resulting from your search. Clicking on any of the column titles sort the results according to that column.

Select - Check this check box to select all products in the grid. Uncheck the check box to de-select all products in the grid.

This check box is only visible when multiple products can be selected for your current routine. This check box is not visible when a single search result is expected.

Product - The product name/number.
Vendor Model - The model name/number of the product as supplied by the vendor.
Vendor - The product vendor.
Brand - The product brand.
Description - The brief description of the product.
Price - The current promotional price of the product.
Selling Price - The regular, non-discounted price of the product.
On Hand - The amount of pieces physically present at the location.
Available - The net available for the product.
Net PO - The product quantity, as calculated by Net Purchase Order.
Promo - If an active promotional code exists for the product, the code appears here.
Status - The Purchase Status, if any, appears here.
Second Description - Because this is an optional field during the creation of a product (Product Settings and Advanced Product Settings), this may be blank.
