Update Zip Code Settings
Access
Support Files: Sales Tax, Route Code, Country, and Warehouse Location.
Tabs: General, Regional Settings
Use this routine to update delivery information for a range of zip codes at once by specifying beginning and ending zip codes for the range. You can specify multiple delivery or service route codes for a ship location.
You can also specify routes codes by region. For example, if you have two shipping destinations in the same zip code that receive deliveries from separate locations and separate trucks, you can create two regions within the zip code and build your delivery codes that way.
New zip codes that have been built on-the-fly list on the End-of-Day report. This allows review by the manager to ensure the normal ship location and tax codes are properly set.
To update zip codes one at a time, use the Individual Zip Codes routine.
General Tab
Start Zip or Postal CodeEnter the starting zip or postal code for the range. If entering the code for a location in the United States, enter the code in either a 5 digit or 9 digit format as follows: NNNNN or NNNNN-NNNN (hyphen must be entered). If other than U.S., enter the code according to that country’s format, as established in the Country record.
End Zip or Postal CodeEnter the ending zip or postal code for the range. If entering the code for a location in the United States, enter the code in either a 5 digit or 9 digit format as follows: NNNNN or NNNNN-NNNN (hyphen must be entered). If other than U.S., enter the code according to that country’s format, as established in the Country record.
Normal Ship LocationEnter the code of the warehouse from which goods normally ship for a delivery address within this range of zip codes. If you click on the Arrow, a list of locations appears from which you can choose.
For delivery orders, when determining a default ship-from location, the order entry processes reference the Default Ship Location to Sell Location field in the Point of Sale Control Settings. If the box at that field is empty, order entry defaults the ship location based on the location associated with the zip code of the delivery address. That is, order entry identifies the zip code of the delivery address, then defaults the location specified in this field for that zip code.
Delivery Route CodeEnter the code of the delivery-type route (if any) you want to associate with this range of zip codes. The route code must be a delivery route. If you click on the Search button, a list of available delivery-type route codes appears from which you can choose one or more. If you click on the Action button, the Multiple Route Selection Window appears from which you can choose one or more routes.
Whenever zip code in the range appears in the ship-to address for a delivery order, the route code you specify here defaults, thus determining the available delivery dates for the order. The dates display via the Calendar Icon at the Next Date field in the order-entry process. In order entry, you can override the default route code via the Route field in the Shipping section of the Customer Order Information Screen.
Transfer Route CodeEnter the route code you want the system to default when creating transfers to a zip code within the selected range of zip codes. If you click on the Search button, a list of transfer-type route codes appears from which you can choose.
STORIS requires you enter a route code when completing a transfer manifest. If a default transfer route code does not exist in the in the Warehouse/Store Location Settings for the transfer location on the order, the system checks here for a default transfer route code. If a default code is not found, you must enter one manually into the transfer manifest.
Service Route CodeEnter the code of the service-type route (if any) you want to associate with this range of zip codes. The route code must be a service route. If you click on the Search button, a list of available service-type route codes appears from which you can choose one or more. If you click on the Action button, the Multiple Route Selection Window appears from which you can choose one or more routes.

Regional Settings Tab
Use this tab to enter regional information for ship location and route codes. Regional Processing does not have to be active to edit these fields. The values you enter on this tab override the values entered on the General tab for the same zip or postal code. If you enter a region on this tab and leave some fields blank, the blank field value overrides any value entered in the similar field on the General tab.
RegionEnter the code of the region (if any) for which you want to enter delivery codes (that is, for the selected range of dates).
Normal Ship LocationTo change the warehouse from which goods normally ship for a delivery address in this region for the selected zip code range, enter the new warehouse code. Otherwise, leave the field blank. If you click on the Arrow button, a list of locations appears from which can choose.
The warehouse or store location entered must already exist in the Warehouse Location file. During Sales Order entry, the program looks at the Zip Code in the ship-to address (on the Sales Order) and retrieves the ship-from warehouse location from this record.
