Use Commission Settings to establish settings that are then cross-referenced with commission category settings (found in the Product and Customer files) to identify a commission percent stored in either a customer, salesperson, product, or matrix source file.

• A matrix code can be alphanumeric, and you can create up to 1296 different matrices.

• The system reviews each line item on a sales transaction to determine the correct commission percent.

• You can specify only one commission category for each customer and product.

There are many ways to allocate commission for salespeople. Commission can be established while in the order, for a completed order, for specific line items, or by the use of global settings. STORIS establishes the commission percentage during order entry and stores it with each individual line item on the order. Note that changing global commission allotment does not update existing orders.

To change commission allocated to each salesperson while in the order process:

• Option 1 - To change commission for the entire order:

1. Access the order. In the Customer tab, click the extra Actions button to select Customer Order Information.

2. From this screen in the Billing tab, click the Action button at the Order field. The Multiple Salesperson Commission Screen opens, where you can add/change commission percentages or add/remove salespeople from the order.

3. Option 2 - To change commission for a line item:

1. Access the order. In the Merchandise tab, select a line item then click the extra Actions button to select Additional Line Item Details.

2. From this screen in the General tab, click the extra Actions button to select Commission/Spiff Updates Screen where you can change the commission category and spiff amount.

To change the percentages allocated to each salesperson for a completed order, enter an even exchange using the following steps:

1. Access the order via the Enter an Exchange routine.

2. From the Customer tab, click the extra Actions button to select Customer Order Information. In the Salesperson Assigned fields on this screen, the Exchange salesperson defaults to the regular salesperson.

3. At the Order field, click on the Action button to access the Multiple Salesperson Commission Screen, where you can view and edit commission percentages for the salespeople on this order.   

4. Complete the exchange as an even exchange. The commissions update with your changes.

To globally establish commission for salespeople:

There are different ways to establish commission in this manner.

• You may establish percent commissions for salespersons according to customer via the Customer Settings (Point of Sale tab) or Advanced Customer Settings (Point of Sale tab).

• To calculate commission using matrices use Commission Settings. This screen can also be used to assign special commission rates or dollars to selected products and customers/salespeople. Note that changing commission percentage here does not update existing orders.

Use the View All Sales Information field in the Create a User/Group Actions - Sales Security settings to restrict a salesperson’s ability to view activity. This setting allows you to permit users to view and report only their own activity, all activity, or  activity only for the login location. In order to use this feature, the Sales Security Access field on the Advanced tab of Point of Sale Control Settings must be enabled. See the Sales Security Overview for further detail.

First, check your Point of Sale Control Settings, Pricing and Commissions tab, Allow Price Change field. When adding an item to an order, the system defaults a selling price. If you check the box at the control settings field, users can override this price. If you leave the box blank, users cannot override the price.  

Next, check the Warehouse/Store Location Settings for the selling locations involved. If the Price Variance field on the General tab has a value for a specific selling store, a restriction has been placed on how much a user can change the selling price. In addition, when the user exceeds the allowed variance percentage, the Variance Exceeded Alert field (also on the General tab) determines the type of alert, if any, that the system issues.

You can use the Create a User/Group Actions - Sales Security setting called Delete/Edit information on open transactions to control access to existing orders. If the box is checked, the user/user group can access existing sales, service, and transfer orders and edit or delete the information on the orders.

Although it is not generally recommended, you can delete a salesperson code no longer in use, but only if there are no open orders associated with the salesperson. If the salesperson does not have any open orders on the system, the record for that salesperson can be deleted using Salesperson Settings. Be aware that once deleted, historical reporting is affected. Any transactions associated with the deleted salesperson appear on the report with the salesperson "unknown" for that transaction.
