Bar Code Control Settings

Tabs:
General, Inventory, Warehouse Management, Labels
Use the settings
in this routine to govern the overall operation of the programs within
the Bar Code module.
Some fields in this control file apply only to either Batch Bar Code or to Radio Frequency (RF) Bar Code.
Also note that some system control settings are personnel only.
General
Next Batch Number PINThis is
the sequential counter that assigns numbers to all bar code batches, including
Warehouse Receiving and Physical Inventory batches.
Transfer Purge DaysThis is the number of days
to hold transfers in an audit file for reporting purposes - i.e. Report
Bar Code Bin-to-Bin Transfer Activity (Barcode Transfer Report).
Consolidated Picking Purge Days
Next Cross Reference NumberWhen you
create a new product, STORIS assigns a unique bar code cross-reference
number to identify the bar code with the specific product. STORIS also
uses the number for label printing and product tracking. This number is
a sequential counter.
Receive Using Bar Code LabelsThis setting
controls whether or not users can access and utilize the Assign
a User to Physical or Cycle Count Locations (Batch Maintenance) function,
and the printing options that are available in the Print
a Purchase Order Merchandise Label (Purchase Order Label Print) process.
Leaving this field inactive prevents the accidental misuse of receiving
labels as stock labels for special-ordered products, in which the labels
do not accurately reflect the PIN sequence
number.
Use UPCTo activate
UPC enabling on your system, check the
box. This is a global
setting that allows RF Warehouses to enable UPC at will, without any additional
support fields.
Use STORIS Label as Serial NumberIf you
check this box, then if serial
tracking is active in your system and you are receiving a serial-tracked
product, STORIS automatically assigns a serial number to received products
during RF scanning. The system assigns the last five digits of the reference
number on the bar code label. If you leave this box blank, to assign serial
numbers via RF scanning, you must scan the received items twice, with
the second scan assigning the serial number.
The label “names” in the following section represent the names of the
programs that produce labels, for different product types, for Zebra printing.
These names should be entered during the initial system setup, after conferring
with a qualified STORIS representative.
Merchandise Label NameThis is the name of the label
program for the printing of stock merchandise labels. The standard STORIS
label program is BC.STOCK.LBL.
This label program will be used for all products with a Label Type of
Standard set in the Advanced
Product Settings (Product Full) file.
Accessory Label NameThis field indicates the
name of the label program for the printing
of accessory labels. The standard STORIS label program is BC.ACC.LBL. This label program
will be used for all products with a Label Type of Accessory set in the Advanced
Product Settings (Product Full) file.

program for the warehouse storage (bin) location label. The standard STORIS
storage location label program is BC.LOCATION.LBL.

BC.MULTI.LBL. This label program
will be used for all products with a value greater than 1 in the Boxes per Product field in the Advanced Product
Settings (Product Full) file.
Prep Label NameEnter the name of the label
program that prints Prep labels. The standard STORIS prep label print
program is BC.PREP.LBL. This label
is used for additional identification during the picking process.
Costing Batch MandatoryTo require users to assign
a costing batch when using the Bar
Code Batch Maintenance screen (via the Assign
Purchase Orders to a Bar Code Receiving Batch process), check the
box at this field. Otherwise, leave the field blank.
Local Printing
Print DriverEnter the name of the barcode
driver program if the Zebra label printer is to be connected locally to
a PC or terminal.
Continuous StockThis field is used to indicate
whether the label media used for printing barcode labels is one continuous
label that needs to be cut or die-cut stock with pre-cut separators.
Cutter InstalledThis field is used to indicate
if the Zebra printer used for printing labels has a built-in cutter for
continuous label stock.

on the Active Add-Ons tab is active in the General

Log Bin To Bin Exceptions OnlyIf this

will be logged. If this field is not selected, all messages will be logged,
including exceptions.
