Use the Product Configurator with the Product file to itemize as many components of a product as you want. You specify a “frame” as the foundation of your product, then you add your product options. For example, if you specify “Sofa02” as your frame, you can then specify a color for the frame, the upholstery, throw pillows, arm covers, etc.
Your users can view options and select product variations at every step of the configuration process. The Configurator prompts salespeople through the order entry process, ensuring they capture all necessary information and guaranteeing that customers receive every up-sell opportunity allowed within each specific product.
You cannot use the Product Configurator to create products or vendors. You must create them before applying the Configurator. For all products you use with the Product Configurator, you must first make the following entries in the Product Settings and Vendor files:
In the Vendor file for the associated vendor, click on Standard at the Configurator field.
In the Product file, set the Selling Price and Cost to zero (0.00).
In the Product file, check the box at the Special Ordered field.
In the Product file, enter a response at the Vendor Model field. When specifying a product for the Product Configurator, you enter the product’s vendor model number.
After you create the products and vendors that use the Product Configurator, you can enter configuration data manually in the various configurator routines or you can use the Update Product Configuration Detail routine to import a configurator data file as well as maintain your configurator data files.
You can apply District Pricing to both Option and Grade using the Configurator Conversion Worksheets.
If you set up option or grade pricing for a configured product, you inactivate any settings you have for the product in the Customer Price Settings.
