Use this feature to apply discounted pricing to line items on trade/referral sales. The concept of “Trade” customers in sales applies to situations where both the interior designer and their end customer are customers of your store. Trade customers can arrange for the purchase of merchandise by their end customer, or can purchase the merchandise themselves. The Trade Designer Sales feature in STORIS provides for identifying the different types of customers, as well as how discounts are applied.
A trade sale in STORIS is entered as either a sale directly to the designer or a sale to the designer's customer, with a referring designer.
Using the Trade Designer features, you can apply a trade discount to items you sell to the designer or to the designer's customer.
The trade discount percent applied to the line item is calculated based on the following:
The system calculates the CRP /SRP ratio for the product and then uses the table established in Trade Designer Discount Settings to determine the percentage of maximum discount available. This percent indicates the portion of the maximum discount allowed that can be applied to a sale, based on the CRP/SRP ratio.
The maximum discount percent available for a product defaults from the Maximum Trade Discount field in product or vendor settings and can be modified for a line item via the Maximum Trade Discount window during order entry (provided you have security access).
The system applies the discount to the item on the order based on your selection at the Application of Trade Discount field on the Trade Designer Information screen during order entry.
Example: You are entering the trade sale of a single product that has a selling price of $1400 and a suggested retail price of $2000. Your established maximum trade discount percent is 20% for the product. The CRP/SRP ratio for the product is 70% and according to your table in the Trade Designer Discount Settings, the percent of trade discount available for a minimum ratio of 70% is 50%. Therefore, the maximum discount that can be applied to the sale of this product is half (50%) of the maximum trade discount percent of 20%, or 10%. During order entry, you select "50% of Discount" at the Apply the Trade/Designer's Discount field in the Trade Designer Information window. The resulting trade discount that is applied to the line item is 5%, or $70.00.
