This topic contains a list of questions frequently asked by STORIS users about hardware and software. If you click on a question, the answer appears. Please note that more than one solution may exist for a given situation. Read the answers completely to determine which method best suits your company's needs.

Create the customer list using the Report Builder, then when running the report, select Excel as your output option.

When you send a report to the Adobe Reader, STORIS gives it a name (report.txt.pdf). However, Adobe does not allow you to view multiple files with the same name during the same window session. Therefore, to view multiple reports, you must rename the file (in Adobe) using the Save a Copy function on the File menu. You can give the report a temporary name such as "REPORT1" with the idea that each time you want to view multiple reports in Adobe, you can reuse the temporary filename (and thus overwrite the existing file).

STORIS stores reports from Adobe in the following directory:

C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\STORIS\Reports.

The path above is the default path. Your path may have been changed by your system administrator. The "username" in this path refers to the Windows log-in code entered by the log-on user.

While you cannot change the standard reports offered on STORIS menus, you can use Create a Report (on Report Builder menu) to create your own customized reports.

Using the Create a Report process, you first specify the source file supplying the data (for example, the ORDER.ITEM file). Then you use the formatting features to specify how and where you want the data to appear on the report.

Once you create and save your report, use Run a Report to produce the report. You can also add your customized reports to your menus using Set Up Menus and Adding Report Builder Reports & DTS Views to Menus.

You can also create custom reports using the Sales Analysis Reporting Feature.

To add to a report new information that was not originally available within a source file, use the Maintain Report Dictionaries routine.

STORIS provides a reference list of the source files and their associated dictionaries that are available to you via Report Builder routines. When planning your report, you can use the list to identify the files and dictionaries you want to include on the report. To download the latest source file list, which is in Microsoft® Excel format, click here. Enter the User ID and Password you established when you registered for access to the Customer Support web site. After logging in, access the Report Builder Source Files List section of the Spreadsheet Downloads page, where you can select and Save the file to your PC.

To exclude or include a value of "blank" for a specific field, use the Selection tab of Create a Report. For example, if you are reporting customers with email addresses, select the Dictionary Name EMAIL_ADDR (Email Address) on the Selection tab. Next, select NE at the Operator field and at the Value field, enter "" (two quotation marks, no space). Your report includes only those customer records that have an email address and excludes any whose email address field is blank.
