Use the Customer Rewards feature to award loyalty points to customers based on their purchases. You specify a method by which to calculate reward points for customers, then use the Issue Customer Rewards routine to generate gift cards on demand.
If the Customer Rewards feature is active at the time you complete a sales order, the system calculates reward points for the customer based on both of the following:
your settings in the Customer Rewards Control Settings. These settings are global and the system applies them to all items on all sales orders, in addition to any points applied via the Product file (see below).
the Rewards Indicator and Rewards Factor fields in the Product file. These settings apply reward points on a product-by product basis, in addition to any points applied via the global settings.
When calculating customer rewards, the system issues points based on the net value of the order minus any discounts entered in the Discount field on the Payment page of the Enter a Sales Order routine.
Use the following routines to set up your system to use the Customer Rewards feature:
Point of Sale Control Settings - use the Activate Customer Rewards Program field on the Customer page to activate the Customer Rewards feature.
Customer Rewards Control Settings - use this routine to specify your global calculation percentages for customer rewards and well as the duration for which you want reward points and gift certificates to remain valid in the system. The global calculation is distinct from the product-specific calculations (if any) specified in the Advanced Product Settings, and turning off one setting does not de-activate the other.
Advanced Product Settings - use the Customer Rewards section on the Miscellaneous page to enter product-specific calculation methods for reward points. Product-specific calculations are distinct from the global calculation (if any) specified in the Customer Rewards Control Settings, and turning off one setting does not de-activate the other.
Customer Settings - use the Accumulate Reward Points field on the Advanced page to allow specified customers from the Customer Reward feature.
