Use this routine to create or edit the marketing codes you use to track consumer responses to various marketing media. You enter these codes into sales orders and stock merchandise reservations to indicate the media source through which the customer learned about your company. For example, you can set up any of the following as marketing codes:
NEWS = Newspaper
R814 = Radio advertisement from August 14
TB = Telephone book
The Payment tab in Sales Order Entry includes the Code 1 and Code 2 fields. Use these fields to apply marketing codes to sales orders. These fields are active based on your settings at the following fields on the Advanced tab in the Point of Sale Control Settings:
First Marketing Code and Second Marketing Code - these fields activate the Code 1 and Code 2 fields, respectively, in Sales Order Entry.
Allow Marketing Code Changes - users can edit the marketing code fields on existing orders only if a check appears at this field.
Note that the Allow Marketing Code Changes field is a global setting. If you activate this feature globally, users must still have security clearance to edit marketing codes (via the Change Marketing Code field in the Extended Security Settings).
To track and compare the responses from each media source, the following
reports are available:
- Report
Sales History by Initial Marketing Code
- Report
Sales History by Adjusted Marketing Code
Activation Date, Expiration Date
