Use the Location Tracking feature to track inventory at the storage location level within selected warehouses or stores. With location tracking active, when you initially receive or transfer an item to a location-tracked warehouse or store, the system requires you enter a storage location indicating the stocking location of the item. The Physical Inventory process references this information in its reports. The Bar Code feature also references location tracking data.
To activate the Location Tracking feature globally on your system, check the box at the Location Tracking field in the Inventory Control Settings. Once you activate Location Tracking globally, you must then activate the feature locally at the warehouses and/or stores you want to location-track. To set up a warehouse or store for location tracking, use the following routines:
Warehouse/Store Location Settings - to activate Location Tracking for a specific location, check the box at the Location Tracking on the Merchandise tab.
Tracked Warehouse Location Mask Settings - use this routine to establish the mask (that is, the schematic) of storage locations within a warehouse.
Tracked Warehouse Location Verification Settings - use this routine to create the actual storage locations as outlined in the warehouse location mask.
Tracked Storage-Location Settings - use this routine to establish "special" storage locations, for example staging areas or priority-pick locations.
