Tracked Warehouse Location Mask Settings

Use this routine to establish the format of storage locations within a location-tracked warehouse. This format can be a specific length and can be alphanumeric Consisting of both letter and number characters and often other symbol characters such as punctuation marks.. For example, if you have aisles, levels, and bins within your location, you may want to designate your aisles as alpha characters, your levels as numeric characters, and your bins as alphanumeric characters. Based on this example, a storage location code of A-3-A1 would indicate aisle A, level 3, bin A1.  

Once you establish a Location Mask In location tracking, a template or schematic you create to represent the racking system of a warehouse. Masks can represent systems of aisles and bins, levels, areas, etc.. In field formatting, a filter that selectively includes or excludes certain values from a field. and save the record, you cannot change it.

When building a mask for a warehouse location, STORIS recommends you build the mask to account for future expansion. For example, if your warehouse is 50,000 square feet, but at present you are installing racks in only 25,000 sq. ft., the racks may allow for only 10 aisles.  However, if you build the mask to allow for 99 aisles, then in the future you can build locations as you create them physically or install them in the warehouse via the Tracked Warehouse-Location Verification Settings.

This routine may be affected by Regional Processing restrictions. That is, you may not have access to all customers and locations.

Important! If Bar Code is active at a location, STORIS does not recommend building and using only one storage location to track all inventory at that store/warehouse. In addition, no more than 1000 pieces should exist in one storage location. Running reports and uploading scanner data can be drastically affected by the number of items in a single storage location.

PromptThis is the prompt that displays to the user when entering storage locations for this warehouse throughout the system. Typical values for this field include floor, aisle, rack, level, or bin.

PatternThe pattern indicates the length and type for this element.  The system may offer a default based on previous answers for this element. For example, 1A indicates one alpha character; 2N indicates two numeric characters for this element.

Range Low/HighEnter the low and high characters for this element. For example, if the element represents rows and your warehouse contains rows A through N, enter A as the Low and N as the High.

DelimiterTo append a hyphen (-) to this this element, check the box at this field.  Otherwise, leave the field blank.  

MandatoryTo make this element mandatory for all storage locations, check the box at this field. Otherwise, leave the field blank.
