Use this routine to create and maintain import freight-forwarder records. You can specify an unlimited number of contacts for each freight forwarder. The system references these contacts when entering import purchase orders and printing import purchase order documents via the Forms Designer.
A freight forwarder is an individual or company that dispatches shipments via carriers (for example, waterborne vessels, airplanes, trucks, or railroads) and arranges space for those shipments.
Freight forwarders arrange cargo movements to international destinations. They prepare and process the documentation and perform related activities pertaining to international shipments such as the following:
commercial invoices,
shipper's export declarations, and
other documents required by the carrier or country of export, import, or transshipment.
You cannot delete freight-forwarder records that are in use in one or more FOB records.
The names of the following three fields derive from the user-defined settings in the Country file. The prompt names below derive from the default country United States. However, the prompt names you see on your STORIS screen may differ depending on the country specified in the Country field above and the settings for that country in the Country file.
