Printing FAQs

This topic contains a list of questions frequently asked by STORIS users about printing. If you click on a question, the answer appears. Please note that more than one solution may exist for a given situation. Read the answers completely to determine which method best suits your company's needs.

While using STORIS Online Help, you can print topics and selected text directly from the browser window. The following briefly describes your printing options. Refer to Printing in Help for more detail.

To print the current Help topic using the right-click menu:

Right-click anywhere inside the open topic in the right pane, select Print, and choose your printing options.
Click Print. The topic is printed to the specified printer.

You can print selected text in a topic by highlighting the text and then using the right-click menu as described above.

To print expanding text and drop-down text (for example, prompt documentation or these FAQ answers), you must "expand" the text first. Click the hotspots (or field names) to expand the text before printing.

To print the current Help topic or a group of topics using the Print button (if available):

Click on the Print icon from the toolbar in the Help window. The Print Topics window opens. You have the following options:

To print only the current topic (the topic that is open in the right pane), use the Print the selected topic option. Click OK and choose your printing options.
To print a group of topics under a specified heading, use the Print the selected heading and all subtopics option. In the left pane on the Contents tab, highlight the "book" (section heading) whose subtopics you want to print. Click OK in the Print Topics window and select your printing options. All topics under the selected "book" (heading) print.

You can use the print screen function on your keyboard (PrtScn) to capture a screen shot of a STORIS window. Hold down the Shift key and press the PrtScn button to capture an image of the entire screen; hold down the Alt key and press PrtScn to capture an image of the active window.

For any image you capture using one of the above methods, you can paste the image into a variety of applications, such as your word processor or an email document.

Yes, you can use Forms Designer to create or modify custom laser print forms, including check forms, when printing STORIS documents. The Forms Designer includes many laser form layouts called Standard Forms, including forms for sales orders, purchase orders, and credit card receipts. You can use these standard forms as-is, or you use the layouts as a template from which to create your own custom forms.

You cannot update your forms globally. You must update them one at a time.

To test-print your forms, STORIS suggests you use your Learn account.

Using Forms Designer, you can add page numbers to your forms by selecting PageInfo from the toolbox tab located on the left of the Report Designer screen. Once you add the control to your form, you can click the small arrow button located in the upper right corner of the control box to edit settings for the control.

Use the Assign Printer for Enhanced Laser Forms routine to access the Print Configuration window then double-click on the desired form from the grid. In the Print Settings window that appears, select Print to Default Printer.

After logging into the enhanced laser forms (Forms Designer), double-click on the desired form in the Form Management window and use the associated box in the Copies column to change the number of default copies. You may also use the associated Copy Labels column to enter a unique label for each copy, such as "Customer Copy" or "Store Copy." See Columns on the Form Management Window for more details.

You can change the size of the barcode image on your label form by opening your form using Design Enhanced Laser Forms and directly manipulating the size of the barcode image in the form. You can also change the size by selecting BarCode in the Properties pane drop down box, and using the size field to change the size. Keep in mind that the control containing the barcode image limits the size of the barcode.

When editing your form in Enhanced Laser Forms, add the data element for district selling price (sell_price_dist). The district selling price, if any, prints on the labels.

There is a separate label for printing kits. Within Forms Designer, click Design Label Forms then select the appropriate kit label type: HANGTAG AS IS KIT or HANGTAG KIT.

It's possible that this is caused by the setup of the Windows print spooler. All spooled print jobs must be removed before the printer setting can be adjusted. Use caution before adjusting the printer settings if the printer is attached to a print server and shared. Depending on server permissions, changing the setting on the client can also change the setting on the server, thus affecting all users who print to that printer.

Remove spooled print jobs:

1. On your PC, navigate to C:\<windows directory\system32\spool\printers

2. While the Print Spooler is stopped, remove or delete all files with extensions of ".spl" or ".shd".

Adjust Windows printer settings:

1. Open the Printers folder, if it is not already displayed.

2. Right-click the desired printer with a Barr port and select Properties.

3. From the printer's Properties dialog box, select the Advanced tab.

4. In the middle of the dialog box, select Print directly to the printer.

5. Click OK.
