GL Sub-Class Settings

Use this process to define the second highest level of GL account classifications used for reporting and inquiry.

 To define the highest level of GL account classifications, use the GL Class Settings routine. To define the lowest level of GL account classifications, use the GL Group Settings routine.

Sub-ClassEnter the code of the GL account sub-class you want to enter or edit. For new classes, you can enter up to 4 alphanumeric characters. If you click on the Search button, a list of sub-classes appears from which you can make a selection.

DescriptionEnter a description for the GL account class you are creating. If you are viewing an existing class, you can edit the existing description. Be sure not to duplicate the description of an existing sub-class.

ClassSpecify the GL account class with which to associate this sub-class.  If you click on the Search button, a list of classes appears from which you can make a selection.

 You can delete GL account sub-class records as long as no GL account group records are linked and no GL account records are assigned to the GL account sub-class.  

The following are examples of sub-classes you can create:

• Current Asset

• Fixed Asset

• Other Asset

• Current Liability

• Long Term Debt

• Sales

• Cost of Sales

• Finance Charges

• Other Income

• Other Expense
