Use this routine to create and maintain lists of product substitutions that you can associate with component products (via Product Kit Settings) when creating and maintaining component and product priced soft kits. You add new substitute products to the list by entering the Product Number. Click here for a detailed example of product list substitutions.
A substitution list can only contain Products with the same Product Type.
If the quantity of a component is raised, all existing soft kits that contain that component as the default must be verified. Any soft kit that contains a quantity less than the new quantity is no longer valid and an error message is displayed.
If the adjustment charge is changed to anything other than zero, no soft kits can use that component as the default product.
If you click the Delete button on this screen, the list is removed provided that it is not being used in any soft kits. If the substitution list is in use, a message is displayed providing the number of soft kits affected. If you choose to continue with the deletion, the substitution list is automatically removed from all soft kits where it is assigned.
Any single substitution list can be assigned to any number of kit components in any number of soft kits, provided the following is true:
The product being substituted exists in the substitution list and has no adjustment charge associated with it.
The adjustment quantity in the substitution list must be equal to or less than the Kit Quantity.
If a product with an adjustment charge of zero is being removed and the list is assigned to a component on one or more existing soft kits, two criteria must be met before the product can be removed:
None of the soft kits can have the product being removed as the default kit component. If this is the case, an error message is displayed and each of the soft kits must be modified.
There must be at least one other product in the list with an adjustment charge of zero at the time the adjusted substitution list is saved.
The ability for you to use the substitution list functionality in order entry is active only when the Adjust Soft Kit in Order Entry setting is checked on the Inventory tab of your Point of Sale Control Settings.
