When creating purchase orders from Sales Order Entry or updating line items with linked quantities, the following rules apply:
stock products – when deleting a line in a sales order, or editing line item quantities, linked quantities update but the purchase order quantities do not. A message appears indicating that you must manually update the purchase order to reflect the changes.
special-order or non-inventory products, purchase order not transmitted:
– sales order updates to line item quantities or details reflect in the purchase order.
– adding new lines to sales orders reflects in the purchase order.
special-order or non-inventory products, purchase order already transmitted:
- when decreasing quantities on a sales order, linked quantities update but purchase order quantities do not. A message appears indicating that you must manually update the purchase order to reflect the changes.
- when increasing a quantity on a sales order, a message appears indicating that you must create a new purchase order to cover the quantity increase.
- when changing special-order details on a sales order, the purchase order does not update. However, you can manually enter the changes in Purchase Order Entry, after which the changes reflect in Sales Order Entry.
