Reassign a Sales Reservation

Access

Use this routine to override the decisions made by the Just-In-Time Inventory (Automatic Stock Reservation) process. Just-In-Time Inventory reserves and back-orders items based on the quantity available at the time of order entry. Use this optional re-assignment program to modify the assignments made by the reservation program.

For example, assume the following scenario:

1. You place a sales order for a product and schedule it for delivery in two weeks.  

2. The system reserve Allocate inventory to the line item.s the last available piece of that product to this order.  

3. You then place another order for the same product and the customer wants this item delivered tomorrow. Since the last piece of this product is reserved to the previous order, the program back-orders the item to the new order.

Assume the anticipated shipment for the back-ordered item is within the next three days.  You can use this program to manually place the prior order (to be delivered in two weeks) on back order and reserve the last piece of product to the new order to be delivered tomorrow.

This routine does not allow you to re-assign special-order products.

Sales orders on manifests do not appear in this routine.

LocationEnter the code for the location of the product being reassigned. The default location from the log-in screen appears, if any. You can override the default response.

If you click on the Arrow button, you can choose from the drop-down list of locations available to you. Note that here and at any other Location field, the locations you see (that is, the list of locations available to you) may be affected by Regional Processing restrictions.

ProductEnter the code of the product for which you are reassigning reserved and/or back-ordered quantities. If you click on the Search button, you access the Search for a Product window from which you can locate and select a product.

DocumentTo reassign reserved or back-ordered quantities, enter the document number or double-click to select it from the grid. After you indicate a document number, you can click the Action button at this field to view the selected order.

Net AvailableThe total (saleable) net available quantity in inventory for the selected store location displays here.  

Net POThe Net Purchase Order The number of units on a purchase order minus the quantity on sales orders but not yet committed to the sales orders and minus layaways. field displays the total net quantity of units expected to enter the inventory of the selected store location, based on outstanding purchase orders.

If you do not use the ATP calculation and the following three settings - ATP CALCULATION: Include New Purchase Orders, Include Stock Transfers, Included Unlinked Purchase Orders - are not enabled in your Point of Sale Control Settings, the ATP Quantity, Date, Source, and Document field labels and data are not displayed on this screen.  

Click the Add button to process the re-assignment. The line item's Reserved and Available quantities update accordingly and the Adjustment column displays "Yes", indicating that an adjustment has been made. Additionally, the Net Available and Net PO fields update to reflect these changes.
