Use this routine to specify delivery information
for a zip code. You can specify multiple delivery or service route codes
for a ship location. Use the Individual Zip Code file to:
specify a default for each
zip code. In this way, you can default the ship-from location
for orders based on the zip code of the customer's ship-to address.
indicate tax jurisdictions
for sales orders including state, county, and municipality jurisdictions,
based on the zip code of the customer's ship-to address.
designate the Delivery, Transfer,
and Service route codes, as well as the Delivery Stop Time.
You can also specify routes codes by region. For example, if you have
two shipping destinations within the same zip code that receive deliveries
from separate locations and separate trucks, you can create two regions
within the zip code and build your delivery codes that way.
New zip codes that have been built on-the-fly
list on the End-of-Day report. This allows review by the manager to ensure
the normal ship location and tax codes are properly set.
To update a range of zip codes at one time, use the Update
Zip Code Settings.
General
Zip or Postal CodeEnter the zip code or postal
code. If entering the code for a location in the United States, enter
the code in either a 5 digit or 9 digit format as follows: NNNNN or NNNNN-NNNN
(hyphen must be entered). If other than U.S., enter the code according
to that country’s format, as established in the Country
record.
CountryEnter
the code of the country in which the zip code exists. If you click
on the Search button, a list of countries appears from which you can choose.
CityEnter
the city or town that resides within the selected zip code. If more than
one city exists within the zip code, enter the most frequently used as
the default. You can override the default when necessary.
StateEnter
the state in which the zip code resides. This state code must exist in
the Sales Tax file. STORIS comes delivered with all fifty U.S. state
codes pre-built.
Normal Ship LocationEnter
the code of the warehouse from which goods normally ship for a delivery
address within this zip code. If you click on the Arrow, a list of locations
appears from which you can choose.
For delivery orders, when determining a default ship-from location, the
order entry processes reference the Default - Ship From Location field
in the Point
of Sale Control Settings. If that field is empty, order entry
defaults the ship-to location based on the location associated with the
zip code of the delivery address. That is, order entry identifies
the zip code of the delivery address, then defaults the location specified
in this field for that zip code.
Delivery Route CodeEnter
the code of the delivery-type route
(if any) you want to associate with this zip code. The route code
must be a delivery route. If you click on the Search button, a list
of available delivery-type route codes appears from which you can choose
one or more. If you click on the Action button, the Multiple
Route Selection Window appears from which you can choose one or more
routes.
Whenever the selected zip code appears in the ship-to address for a delivery
order, the route code you specify here defaults, thus determining the
available delivery dates for the order. The dates display via the
Calendar Icon at the
Next Date field in the order-entry process. If you have security permission,
you can override the default route code via the Route field in the order
entry Fulfillment Information section.
Delivery Stop TimeEnter
the delivery stop time (if any) you want to associate with this zip code.
STORIS uses this field for informational and also for sort purposes
on the delivery manifest. STORIS recommends indicating stop times
here only if using delivery scheduling and manifesting, as stop times
are usually assigned in specific orders.
Transfer Route CodeEnter
the route code you want the system to default when creating transfers
to this zip code. If you
click on the Search button, a list of transfer-type route codes appears
from which you can choose.
STORIS requires you enter a route code when completing a transfer manifest.
If a default transfer route code does not exist in the in the Warehouse/Store Location
Settings for the transfer location on the order, the system checks
here for a default transfer route code. If a default code is not
found, you must enter one manually into the transfer manifest.
Service Route CodeEnter
the code of the service-type route
(if any) you want to associate with this zip code. The route code
must be a service route. If you click on the Search button, a list
of available service-type route codes appears from which you can choose
one or more. If you click on the Action button, the Multiple
Route Selection Window appears from which you can choose one or more
routes.
