Product Attribute Title Settings

Use this routine to create and maintain attribute titles. Attribute titles such as Color, Comfort Level, or Bed Size can be created here, and later linked to products in a Product Family. Using this screen, you also have the option of specifying an enumeration of values to be associated to the title so that the values for a title can be chosen from a pre-defined list. If you do not specify values for the attribute, values can be entered as free-form text when you link the attribute to a product.

If an attribute title is currently in use with a Product Family, a message displays warning that you cannot delete the attribute title and the product families to which the attribute is assigned are listed.

To create a new attribute title, click the Plus button. The system assigns a numeric ID. To maintain an existing attribute title, enter the ID here or click the Search button to access the Read-Only Lookup Window.

Use this mandatory field to enter text to describe this attribute. For example, enter Comfort Level as the title, and assign values (below) such as Extra Firm, Firm, and Soft. Click the Action button at this field to access the Description Field - Language Translation Entry screen, where you can translate the description text you entered for this product attribute. The text you enter here appears on the web as the heading for the product attributes listing.

To associate values with the title specified, check this box. When checked, values associated with this title can be defined in the Attribute Value ID field below and added to the Attribute Value Enumeration grid. If you do not specify values, you cannot save this title with the box checked.

Attribute Value Enumeration

If the Enumerate Attribute Values box is checked, this field is mandatory. Indicate the numeric ID of the attribute value you want to associate with this title. Click the Action button at this field to access the following options.

Product Attribute Value Lookup - Use this lookup to select an existing attribute value ID.
Product Attribute Value Settings - Use this screen to create a new attribute value and add it to the Attribute Value grid.

If the Enumerate Attribute Values field is not checked, the grid is empty. The grid lists any Attribute Values assigned to this title, along with their Descriptions. To reorder the values in the grid, highlight a line and use the promote/demote buttons to promote or demote the selected line. To remove a value from this title, select the row and click the Remove button. The value cannot be removed if the attribute is currently in use with a Product Family.
