Customer Name Information Window
Access
Use this window to sort your search results for a customer. You access this screen in one of the following ways:
-
via the Customer field in an order entry routine if you enter a customer name, or
-
via a search you started at the Last Name field of the Search for a Customer screen.
You can use the prompts on this screen to sort the results generated from your entry in the Last Name field on the Search for a Customer screen (or the Customer field if you accessed directly from an order routine). For example, if you entered a last name of SMITH, and then a first name of T, the system places all records found whose first name begins with T at the top of the list, sorted alphabetically.
The Customer Name Information window does not use Soundex.
This screen appears only if the Search Last Name Only field in the Point of Sale Control Settings is blank.
Last NameThe response you entered at the Last Name field in the Search for a Customer screen appears. The system has searched the customer database for records with the last name you specified, and is now awaiting a response at one or more of the sort prompts below. The system sorts the records found (if any) based on the responses. You cannot edit this field.
First NameTo sort the list of last names by first name, enter a full name or abbreviated name. The system places the records matching your criteria at the top of the list. If the system finds no matches, it ignores your entry.
Middle NameTo sort the list of last names by middle name, enter a full name or abbreviated name. The system places the records matching your criteria at the top of the list. If the system finds no matches, it ignores your entry.
Prefix To sort the list of last names by prefix, enter a prefix (for example, Ms., Mr., Dr., etc.). The system places the records matching your criteria at the top of the list. If the system finds no matches, it ignores your entry.
Suffix To sort the list of last names by suffix, enter a suffix (for example, Jr., Esq., etc.). The system places the records matching your criteria at the top of the list. If the system finds no matches, it ignores your entry.
To edit the Middle Name, Prefix, or Suffix fields, they must be activated via the "Prompt For ..." fields on the Customer tab in the Point of Sale Control Settings (Sales Order ACF).
