User Defined Settings

With this optional routine, you can define and maintain prompts that you can use to gather additional information. Once the prompts are defined, you can respond to the prompts in the following processes:

Only unused prompt codes can be deleted. If responses have been entered to the prompt, you can use the Active field to remove it from the user defined entry screen, but you cannot delete it from the system.

Indicate the source where you want this user defined prompt to be used. More options may be added in the future. Click the Arrow button to select the currently available source:

Click the Arrow button and select the type of data the user is required to enter at this user defined prompt. The default for this field is Text. The options are:

Text (default entry; no validation of response)
Date (MM/DD/YYYY; any past, present, or future date is valid)
Integer (whole numeric value; no commas, no decimals)
Decimal (numeric with two decimal places, no commas)

Use this field to enter the text you want displayed to the user. This text is used to prompt the operator for information. Entry in this field is mandatory and up to 50 characters of text can be entered. Click the Action button to access the Text Field - Language Translation Entry screen.

When editing an existing prompt code, you can edit this field. However, you should make only minor corrections to the text. If you need to replace the prompt text, you should inactivate the existing code and establish a new code for the new prompt text. Otherwise, there may be a mismatch between the prompt and previously entered responses.

This field is optional and is only active if you have selected Product Settings in the Source field. You can use this field to associate products or groups of products with a prompt code. If you choose to use this field, you can enter an inventory formation or click the Search button to select from the list. Click the Action button for one of the following options:

Check the box at this field to require a response for this prompt. Leave the box blank to make entry at this prompt optional.

This field determines whether the user defined prompt is currently active or inactive. Check the box at this field to make the prompt active. Remove the check at this field to make the prompt inactive. The default for this field is checked (active).

This field is optional. You can use it to provide eligible responses for a prompt code. To use, enter a valid response and then click the Add button to add the response to the grid.

The grid contains a column for the valid response that you entered in the field above and a column with a Remove button. To delete an existing response, click the Remove button in the corresponding column of the row you want to delete.
