STORIS recommends you build storage locations only for the number of physical locations in the warehouse racking system and not necessarily for all locations within the location mask.

This routine may be affected by Regional Processing restrictions. That is, you may not have access to all locations.

Important! If Bar Code is active at a location, STORIS does not recommend building and using only one storage location to track all inventory at that store/warehouse. In addition, no more than 1000 pieces should exist in one storage location. Running reports and uploading scanner data can be drastically affected by the number of items in a single storage location.

During the initial entry of a warehouse’s storage locations, use the Build Storage Locations option from the Actions menu to automatically create locations that match the mask defined in Warehouse Location Mask Settings (Warehouse Location Mask Entry).

Specify a print method. You have the following options:

Zebra Printer
Forms Designer

Location-Tracked Warehouse (via Warehouse/Store Location Settings) - Use this field to manually add Storage locations or modify existing locations. If you click on the Search button, you access the View Products in a Specific Storage Location screen.

If you use the Float Processing feature, the system prevents the creation of storage locations whose ID matches existing Float ID's.

Invisible Location Tracked Warehouse (via Warehouse/Store Location Settings) - You can use this field to automatically assign merchandise to a virtual storage location associated with the product's group. Enter the product group code here; click the Search button to select a group code from the list.

Important! If Bar Code is active at a location, STORIS does not recommend building and using only one storage location to track all inventory at that store/warehouse. Running reports and uploading scanner data can be drastically affected by the number of items in a single storage location.

If you leave this field blank, the following message appears:

Select all storage locations? Choose No to pick ranges.

Click on Actions for detail on the Select Storage Locations option.

Enter the picking zone number (if any) you want to apply to this storage location. Enter a number of 1, 2, or 3. You can apply the same picking zone number to multiple storage locations.

After you set up your picking zones, you use the Picking Zone Assignment Window to assign a picking sequence for your picking zones. That is, you tell the system where to look first, second, and third for inventory.

The current status of the storage locations displays. You can modify the status. You have the following options:

Vacant
Staging - works with the delivery manifest process to move items already picked from the bin locations to this "holding" area.
Active

This field indicates whether the selected location is currently being used:

Y - inventory currently exists in this location.
N - no inventory is currently assigned to this storage location.

For information on the columns in the grid, click on the associated prompt documentation above. To enter, edit, or delete a row in the grid, double-click on the row. The line number for the selected row appears in the Line Number field.

If you click on the Actions button, a menu appears from which you can make the following selections:

- Build Storage Locations
- Print Barcode Labels - for location-tracked stores or warehouses, print labels for a selected storage location. For invisible-location stores or warehouses, print labels for a selected product group.
- Select Storage Locations
- Mass Picking Zone Assignment
