Signature capture systems are used to make electronic copies of customer signatures for electronic transactions such as credit card processing. The customer signs an electronic screen, called the tablet, instead of paper. Use this routine to specify the image you want to appear on the tablet when the tablet is in power-save mode. You also use this routine to specify the disclaimer text you want to associate with customer signatures for credit card purchases.

Use this field to specify the image you want to appear on the tablet when the tablet is in power-save mode. If you select this option, then click Save, the system opens a Windows Explorer® session. Browse to your file and double-click on it to select it.

The file you select must have a file extension of ".BMP" or ".JPG". When you select a valid file, the image appears immediately on the tablet screen. If the image is too big in area, the outside portions of the image may not fit into the tablet screen. If you are not satisfied with the image, edit it or select another one. If you edit the image, do it in a folder outside of the STORIS domain, then repeat the steps at the Load Tablet Splash Screen field.

When the Signature Capture program goes into power-save mode, it looks for a file called MainScreen.bmp in the C:\Program Files\SigCapture\Images directory. When you first access the Signature Capture tablet, the default version of this file is an image with the words "Welcome to Our Store". When you select a file at the Load Tablet Splash Screen field, STORIS makes a copy of the file and names it C:\Program Files\SigCapture\Images\MainScreen.bmp. This process overwrites the default file, so you may want to make a backup of the default file before you run this routine. In any case, a ".BMP" or ".JPG" file must exist in the C:\Program Files\SigCapture\Images directory for the Signature Capture feature to work properly.

If you select this field then click Save, the system checks the Use Company or Location for Receipt field in the Payment Card and Device Settings to determine which text to use as the disclaimer. If Company is selected, the system uses the text in the Payment Charge Text and Payment Credit Text fields in the Credit Card Processing settings file. If Location is selected, the system uses the text in the Payment Charge Text and Payment Credit Text fields in the Location Settings.
