If you process credit card transactions using Shift4, you can use this routine to take any token issued to a credit card transaction (an authorized “sale”) and make it available to be shared among all selling locations. During payment processing, if Token Sharing is active, STORIS records the token received from Shift4 (and other pertinent data) in the database so that the consumer can reuse the card information for additional transactions. In order to gain access to this process, the Shift4 module must be active on the system.
In addition, the following rules affect the ability to update shared tokens.
The Token Sharing Active field in Payment Card and Device Settings must be enabled; otherwise shared tokens are not updated.
There must be a customer number present in order to update shared tokens.
If the transaction was not approved, the shared tokens are not updated.
Tokens from eCommerce transactions are not stored.
Debit cards are not stored.
If voiding a transaction, tokens are not updated.
