Search for Duplicate Customers to Merge

Use this routine to search for duplicate and merge-to customers by last name, phone number, email address, and/or social security number. You can further narrow your search by zip code. You can also use the Action buttons in the grids to preview details of merge eligibility from within your search results. Once you have selected the customers to be merged and click the OK button, the Review Status and Merge Individual Customers screen displays.

DUPLICATE CUSTOMER

To search for customers by last name, enter part or all of the name in this field. Any customer with a last name that starts with this entry is selected.

To search for customers by phone number enter the phone number, without delimiters, in this field. Any customer with a phone number that matches this entry is selected.

To search for customers by email address, enter the email address here. Any customer with an email address matches this entry is selected.

To search for customers by social security number, enter the social security number here. Any customer with a social security number that matches this entry is selected.

To filter your search by zip code, enter the zip code here. At least one other search criterion must be specified in order to use this filter. Customers with a zip code that matches this entry are selected.

Following entry of your search criteria in the fields above, click the Search button to find customers matching your criteria.

Select Duplicate Customer(s) to Merge.

The duplicate customer grid displays the results of your search. For each customer listed, the following is displayed.

To select a duplicate (merge from) customer, check the box in that row. To select all customers listed, click the check box in the header row.

If you click the Action button in the Detail column, you access the View a Customer's Account Summary Window.

MERGE TO CUSTOMER

To automatically populate the search fields with the same criteria you used when searching for duplicate customers, click this button. Once you click this button, the fields below fill in, but you can still add or change your search criteria.

To search for customers by last name, enter part or all of the name in this field. Any customer with a last name that starts with this entry is selected.

To search for customers by phone number enter the phone number, without delimiters, in this field. Any customer with a phone number that matches this entry is selected.

To search for customers by email address, enter the email address here. Any customer with an email address matches this entry is selected.

To search for customers by social security number, enter the social security number here. Any customer with a social security number that matches this entry is selected.

Following entry of your search criteria in the fields above, click the Search button to find customers matching your criteria.

Select 1 Customer to Merge the Duplicate(s) into.

The merge-to customer grid displays the results of your search. For each customer listed, the following is displayed.

To select the merge-to customer, check the box in that row. If you click the Action button in the Detail column, you access the View a Customer's Account Summary Window. You can select only one customer as the merge-to customer.
