Use this routine to create and maintain float A float is a moveable pallet that holds merchandise for movement within the warehouse. settings for use by the RF picking process. Floats can be used when merchandise that has been picked but not moved to the next step (prep or stage) is temporarily stored in an interim location.
Indicate the warehouse/store location where you want to create or maintain Floats. Click the Arrow button to select a location from the list. Only locations that are accessible to you and whose Location Tracked and Verified fields in warehouse/store location settings are checked can be selected. Once you indicate a location, the grid displays any previously created floats, along with the status of each.
To create a new Float, enter up to 12 characters to represent this Float. Your entry can be numeric (0-9), alphabetic (A-Z, caps only), or a combination of numeric and alphabetic. In addition, you can use hyphens ( - ) but not as a starting or ending character.
Once you enter the ID, the system validates to ensure that a storage location matching your entry does not exist and also whether or not the ID matches the existing storage location mask. If the ID you enter matches an existing storage location, a message is displayed and you must enter a different ID. If the ID you enter falls within the storage location mask defined for this location, a warning message displays and you have the option to continue or cancel and enter a different ID. If you choose to continue and later build new storage locations using the defined mask, a storage location matching the Float ID cannot be created.
When a valid ID has been entered, the Float is added to the grid.
The grid displays the following information for floats added to this warehouse/store.
Float ID - The user-assigned ID for the float.
Status - The status column for floats displays "New" if you added the float in the current session, "In Use" if merchandise is currently assigned to the float, or "Empty" if there is no merchandise assigned to the float at this time.
Remove - To delete a float from this location, click the button. You cannot delete floats with a status of In Use.
Click the Actions button to access the Label Print option. Use this option to print labels for the floats you select.
