Shift-4 requires that each location within STORIS be licensed with a unique Access Token that is produced by sending a message to the Shift-4 data center. This Access Token is then sent to Shift-4 as part of every message to identify the sender as a licensed user. It also helps Shift-4 keep track of each message for merchant billing purposes. The data required by Shift-4 to produce this Access Token is provided to each location in two parts. The first part is called the Client GUID (globally unique identifier) and the second is called the Client Auth Token. This data needs to be input by the system administrator and sent to Shift-4 to produce the Access Token, which is then stored within STORIS.
Use this routine to update the specific location’s information and to submit the request to the Shift-4 data center to obtain the Access Token if one has not already been assigned to the location. This extra action may also be used to review the existing Access Token and Interface ID for diagnostic purposes. This screen is available when the Processor indicated on the EMV tab of Payment Card and Device Settings is Shift-4.
