Depending on your selection at the Taxable Merchandise field in the Sales Tax Settings, the prompts on this window prompt for either Single Item Price Cap information or Single Item Price Range information.
Price Cap: Use this field to indicate the single unit selling price cap up to which products are taxable.
Exclude Product Groups: Use this optional field to specify any number of Product Groups you want to exempt from the price cap. For products in the exempt groups, the entire selling price will be taxable, regardless of the item price.
You may click the Search button at the Exclude Product Groups field to select a group from the list of product groups.
To select more than one product group to be excluded, click the Action button at the Exclude Product Groups field. The Multiple Product Group selection window will display, where users may enter multiple product groups.
These prompts allow the specification of an item price range that will be considered taxable. Note that the single item price will be considered, not the calculated line extension.
Starting Price: The portion of the item price that is below the Starting Price will be nontaxable. Note that when used in conjunction with Ending Price, this field may be left empty. This will serve as an indication that any item price up to the Ending Price will be taxable.
Ending Price: The portion of the item price that is above the Ending Price will be nontaxable. Note that when used in conjunction with Starting Price, this field may be left empty. This will serve as an indication that any item price over the Starting Price will be taxable.
At least one of the fields (Starting, Ending Price) must be specified in order to use this option.
One of the fields may be left blank, but an entry of zero (0.00) is not acceptable in either field.
For a Broken Case Factor greater than one, this price will refer to the case selling price, not the piece selling price.
Line discounts will be taken before the item price is qualified against the Starting or Ending Price. Therefore, the possibility exists that applying a line discount may result in a line item becoming nontaxable.
