Use this routine to configure the system to run with either Legacy card processing or EMV credit/debit card processing (and the associated signature at point of possession capabilities, if desired).
Legacy
Use this tab to specify your preferences for credit/debit card processing using the Legacy platform on your system. To activate on-line credit card processing, contact STORIS. The Licensing tab in the General System Control Settings indicates whether credit card processing is active on your system.
General
Transaction Sequence(LOCKED - STORIS access ONLY!) The transaction sequence number displays, indicating the current number of credit card transactions that have been performed on your system. This field increments for each credit card transaction. Do not edit this field unless instructed by STORIS support.
Process Transactions Every hh:mmThis field is used with TCPIP or dial up connections and is only valid if the transactions are being run in background mode. The time set in this field is used to determine the length of time that the credit card transaction process should stay active after an initial start-up has been generated. The time entered here is in HH:MM format (hour, minute) and causes the transaction processor to start looking for transactions to process after the specified time. If this field is set to 00:00, the transaction processor performs a start-up each time a credit card transaction is passed through the system.
Manual
Manual Authorizations at Non-Process LocationsTo allow users to manually enter and approve credit card payments at warehouse locations where no credit card merchant number has been defined, check the box at this field. Otherwise, leave the field blank.
Validate Manual EntryTo require verification of user-entered credit card numbers during payment entry, check the box at this field. Otherwise, leave the field blank.
This setting applies only for credit card numbers typed in as opposed to swiped. If you check the box at this field, users must re-enter the credit card number at the Verify field in the Credit Card Entry Window. If you leave this field blank, users are not required to re-enter the credit card number during payment entry.
To retain credit card account data on open sales orders, check this box. The system encrypts the following data from the credit card and stores it in the system until the order is completed:
card type
card number
expiration date
This field works in conjunction with bank card on delivery orders (BCOD).
Enter the number of days prior to the End-of-Month process you want the system to retain customer credit card numbers entered for transactions. The system purges card numbers from transactions older than the number of days you specify here. If you leave this field blank, the system does not purge credit card data. If you enter a response, it must be a number greater than or equal to 30.
After the system purges the card number, you cannot perform the following functions on the transaction associated with the card number:
customer returns (cannot issue refund on original credit card via Enter a Return)
credit adjustment
deposit refund
When you purge a credit card number, the system clears the number from all files associated with the transaction, including the
Enter the number of days you want the system to retain records of credit card transactions before purging during the End-of-Month process. If you leave this field blank, the system does not purge the records. If you enter a response, it must be a number greater than or equal to 30.
If you process online credit/debit card transactions and you want to purge the full account number after the credit/debit card has been settled, you can use this field to define the number of days the data is retained before it is purged.
The entry must be numeric and greater than or equal to zero. The maximum entry allowed is 999. Upon entering a number, the Set Settle Retention Days window pops up so you can confirm the number you entered. It is important that this entry is given careful consideration as once the data has been purged it is impossible to re-run a settlement for any reason. An entry of zero indicates that all settled credit/debit card numbers be removed at the time the purge process is run.
If the field is left blank, credit/debit card numbers are not purged.
After defining the number of retention days, access Schedule a Process to initiate the Purge Settled Credit/Debit Card Numbers program.
Only the full account number is purged, the last four digits remain in the archive file.
To print credit card receipts to a separate printer set up specifically for printing credit card receipts, check the box at this field. Otherwise, leave the box blank. When printing to a separate receipt printer, credit card receipts print on enhanced laser forms.
If you check the box at this field, the system prints a separate credit card receipt to your receipt printer whenever you print an order. For each receipt you print to the receipt printer, the system searches the following files, in the following order, for credit card text, using the first text (if any) it finds:
Even if you check the box at this field, credit card receipt information may print on the sales order as well, depending on the print form you use and your setup at the Use Company of Location for Receipt field.
If you check the box, the system does not include user-defined text on payment slips. For example, check the box if your payment slips are pre-printed with disclosure text.
If you leave this box blank, the system prints user-defined text on payment slips. The system checks the following fields in the following order, retrieving the first text it finds:
To use the text at the Charge Text and/or Credit Text fields in the Credit Card Processing Control Settings, select this radio button.
This field does not affect credit card receipt text printed to a separate receipt printer (see the Separate Printer field above).

Legacy Signature
Use this tab to enable the credit card processing method for use in STORIS.
Signature Capture - stores data within STORIS. You must establish connections with, and "manually" submit transactions for approval to, the various card processing companies whose cards you support.
Online Credit Card Processing - sends transaction data immediately to your third-party processing company who processes the transaction.
If using External Credit Card Processing, payments process as soon as you swipe the card. Conversely, the Signature Capture feature
first captures the credit card information locally,
allows users to make changes to the order and/or the entered payments if required, then finally
submits that data to the payment processor as part of the order-entry wrap-up procedure.
In this way, if problems arise before the order conclusion, no corrections are required since no payments have been submitted.
Credit Card Transactions(LOCKED - STORIS access ONLY!) To enable the Signature Capture feature for credit card transactions, check the box at this field. Otherwise, leave the field blank. Note that the Credit Card Transactions and External Credit Card Processor fields are never active at the same time.
ECA TransactionsTo enable the Signature Capture feature for electronic check authorization transactions, select this field.
If you check the box at this field, then each time you file one of these transaction types, the option appears to record a “proof of possession” customer signature.
To view signatures created via this option, select the View Signatures option on the Actions button in the View an Existing Sales Order routine.
Amount Required For SignatureIf you check the box at theTake-With and Quick-Sale Transactionsfield, you can use this field to establish a minimum amount requiring signature.
If you leave this field null, then the customer is prompted to sign for proof of possession regardless of the amount of the merchandise.
If you enter an amount in this field (from .01 to 9999.99), then the customer is prompted to sign for proof of possession if the amount of the merchandise is equal to or greater than the amount set in this setting.
If you check the box at this field, the Signature Capture pop-up screen appears upon filing orders for which a credit card was swiped. The screen displays the customer's electronic signature for the order. You must accept to continue or decline to reject the signature. If you accept, another pop-up screen appears with the option to save the signature to disc. You can then view the signature at a later date via the View Customer Signatures routine.
If you leave this field blank, the Signature Capture screen does not appear during the signature capture process, thus eliminating steps and saving time. Once the customer taps Accept on the signature pad, STORIS captures the signature and saves it to disc. You can then view the signature at a later date via the View Customer Signatures routine.
If you leave this field blank, you can speed up the card swipe/signature capture process by skipping the confirmation screens in the electronic signature capture process. With this field blank, if the swipe or signature are successful and you perform each step in the number of seconds specified at the Seconds to Wait Before Signature/Swipe Accept Dialog Appears field, the system moves directly to the next step without requiring user confirmation, thus saving time. If you fail to perform the swipe or signature capture in the allotted time, a warning message appears. When you repeat the procedure, the system requires user confirmation for the swipe and/or electronic signature.
If you leave this field blank, the signature still appears on the screen, but the system moves to the next step as soon as the customer presses OK on the signature pad. The system automatically saves the signature to disk where you can later view it via the View Customer Signatures routine.
If you check the box, the system provides the option to save the signature to disk.
If you check the box, the system requires user confirmation for card swipes and electronic signatures in the form of a pop-up window in which users must click OK to proceed. This field is active only if the Signature Capture feature is active.
Use this field to save steps and thus speed up the swipe/signature process. Use this field to bypass the
pop-up confirmation windows in the card swipe process and the
Save Signature pop-up screen in the signature capture process.
If you enter 0 here, the pop-up windows appear immediately, requiring you to click OK to continue or Cancel to reject. However, if you enter a number greater than zero, the system provides that number of seconds for card swipes and signatures before displaying a pop-up screen.
For swipes, a warning prompt appears indicating the system requests you swipe the card. For signatures, the Save Signature screen appears, indicating the system is waiting for a signature. If a valid swipe/signature is performed within the allotted number of seconds, the system automatically accepts the action and bypasses the pop-up windows.
Once the allotted seconds expire, the pop-up windows override the functionality of this field for the current transaction. Pop-up windows display after the swipe or signature, requiring you to accept or reject the action. For subsequent transactions, the functionality of this field resumes.
If the allotted signature seconds expire, then once the customer signs the tablet and taps the Accept button, click on the Accept button on the STORIS Signature Capture screen (the Save Signature screen may obscure a portion of this screen). Then, on the Save Signature screen, click Yes to save the signature to disk or No to abandon the signature.
If you check the box at this field, then whenever you swipe a card that has both credit and debit capabilities, the swiping device prompts immediately for the debit card PIN (personal identification number). To enter credit card information instead, tap on the Credit button on the swiping device.
If you leave this field blank, then for credit/debit cards, the swiping device first prompts you to specify Credit or Debit. If you specify Debit, the PIN pad appears.
To enable credit/debit capability for payment types, use the Allow Debit Card Use field in the Credit Card Validation Settings.
EMV
Currently, this tab is used to establish settings for EMV online credit card processing with Tender Retail or Shift-4 as the processor. Other processors may be available in the future. Check with STORIS for more information.
This field is used by STORIS. Enter the maximum time to wait for a response by the Processor server before assuming that the server has become unresponsive and returning an error. The minimum value in this field is zero (0). The maximum length for this field is 20 characters and the value must be numeric. This number should be at least 1,000 milliseconds more than the time-out value set for the EMV Server.
This setting is only available if the EMVS4 (EMV Shift-4) module is licensed. If you check this box, this STORIS account is using the Shift-4 Cloud EMV architecture, where each pin pad is connected directly to the client work station. If you leave this box blank, STORIS operates using the Traditional Full Service UTG process flow.
Check this setting to allow a user logged in at a Shift4 processing location to process and maintain a single pre-authorized deposit per order inEnter a Sales Order.This setting applies system-wide. The default setting is unchecked.
Enter the amount an existing pre-authorized deposit can be increased without requiring a security override. This field is required and must be an integer between 0 and 99,999. A value of 0 indicates that a security override is always required. The default amount is 0.
Check this field to require the entry of the customer's billing zip code when a credit card is manually entered into a payment terminal. This allows Shift4 UTG and the payment terminal, not STORIS, to supply the billing zip code and the remainder of the AVS data to Shift4. This setting controls the behavior for all payment terminals connected to the system; note that it is not specific to a user or a location.
If this field is not checked, STORIS supplies the billing address and zip code that is on file for the customer assigned to the current order.
This tab contains the settings used by STORIS to control signature capture devices when taking a signature upon delivery of goods and the EMV platform is enabled for the location.
