Demographics Control Settings

Use this routine to establish parameters you can use in Enter a Sales Order to track customer information relating to your business, such as social and marketing statistics. If you specify one or more demographic questions here, you activate this feature in which a pop-up window displaying the questions appears when filing out of order entry. Once the responses to these prompts are collected, this demographic information can then be used as criteria in the Create a Mailing List routine.

Once you establish a demographic question, you should not change it. If you do, you may invalidate previous demographic data.

For each customer, the system retains only the most recent responses entered in the demographic information window during order entry.

Some system control settings are accessible by STORIS personnel only.

First Demographic Question

You can use this field to specify a file in STORIS against which you want the system to validate the operator's response at the first demographic prompt. For example, if you are prompting for a marketing source (TV, newspaper, etc.), you can enter MARKETING.CODE in this field. The operator enters "TV" at the demographic prompt and the system verifies the operator's entry against the MARKETING.CODE file. If "TV" does not match, exactly, a record ID in the MARKETING.CODE file, a warning is issued and the response is rejected.

The file names you enter here are the same as the dictionary names you use in the Report Builder routines. To see a drop-down list of dictionaries, you can access the Maintain Report Dictionaries routine and click the arrow at the File Name field.

This field is optional. If you leave it blank, no validation occurs during demographic information entry. Any operator response can be entered, provided it adheres to the maximum length and data type restrictions you established in these control settings.

Second Demographic Question
