Use this routine to store information for the factory
warranties included with the regular inventory products they cover, and
for the extended warranties sold with the products to which they are linked.
Warranties
can consist of multiple components linked together.
Entering warranty information in this file is optional and for
reference only. The information you enter here does not affect the ability
to link warranties with inventory products in Sales
Order Entry.
Warranty CodeEnter the alphanumeric code you want to represent this warranty.
Depending on the type of warranty, you may need to enter this code in
the Factory Warranty Code field of the Product
record.
DescriptionEnter
up to 25 alphanumeric characters to describe this warranty.
Vendor CodeEnter the alphanumeric code
for the vendor of this particular warranty. If this is a factory warranty,
enter the vendor number for the manufacturer of the product covered by
the warranty. If this is an extended or special coverage warranty, enter
whatever vendor codes have been created for the seller of that warranty,
which could be either the retailer or a third-party warranty vendor.

Period Type
PeriodsThis field
works with the Period Type field above. Enter the number of periods this
parts warranty is valid. For example, if the parts warranty period is
six months, select Months at the
Period Type field and enter 6
in this field.
Extended Warranty Start
Labor
Period Type
PeriodsThis field
works with the Period Type field above. Enter the number of periods this
labor warranty is valid. For example, if the labor warranty period is
one year, select Year at the Period
Type field and enter 1 in this
field.

CommentsUse this
free-text field to enter any miscellaneous comments for this warranty
type.
The warranty
components (if any) associated with this warranty appear in the grid.
To view details on a component, double-click on it to access the read-only
version of the Warranty Component Settings.
To add additional components to this warranty, click on the Actions button
and select Component
Maintenance from the menu that appears.
