You can link one or more non-inventory products to another product via the Associated Non-Inventory field on Miscellaneous tab of Advanced Product Settings. The product you are linking to must have the Product Type Code on the General tab set to Inventory, Bulk Product, or Special Order and the products being linked to it must be set as Non-Inventory products.
If you link non-inventory products to another product, then when that product is added to an order for sales, exchanges, or fast cash, any non-inventory products linked to the order item are automatically added to the order as additional line items.
The linked products are added to the order with the same order quantity as the product to which they are linked.
During the process of building the line items for the components of a soft kit, each product is checked to see if there are linked products. If so, the linked products are added immediately after the product is added to the order. These linked products are not be added as part of the soft kit group.
After a hard kit is added to an order, the components of the kit are checked for linked products. When there are products on the hard kit with linked products, these linked products are automatically added to the order as additional lines and they are linked to the kit master. The linked products are added to the order at the total quantity required by all kit components.
All quantities for the linked product are automatically updated when the quantity of the product it is linked to changes. The quantity for the linked products is updated when the product is added back to the order.
The line type for all linked products is changed to match the products to which they are linked.
All products linked to that product are automatically removed from the order.
The linked products complete with the product it is linked to for the quantity being processed.
Products that are linked to other products cannot be removed from the order. To remove them, the product they are linked to must be removed.
The quantity ordered and quantity shipped for products linked to other products cannot be changed.
The line type for products that are linked to other products cannot be changed.
All changes to delivery dates, ordered quantities and scheduled quantities for a line with linked products automatically updates the lines for its linked products to keep them in sync with that line.
Changes in delivery date, ordered quantity or scheduled quantity are not permitted for lines with linked products.
